British Flower Week

This week is when florists and growers celebrate all the fabulous flowers that are grown in the UK.

One of the unexpected but positive side effects of Brexit is that British Flower sales have increased hugely as flowers coming in via the giant auction in Holland have risen steeply in price. This has encouraged our growers to expand their businesses and that is all good news for us florists.

My British Flowers come from the New Forest in Hampshire from a lovely lady called Jo who grows in an idyllic garden sheltered by apple trees and inhabited by Teddy the Ram who is as spoilt as any child could be! The beds are full of plump peonies, spires of heuchera, aromatic mint, bobbing blowsy catmint, clouds of alchemilla, starry astrantias, zingy geums, bobbing quaking grass and bold poppies.

Enjoy a vase full of country gorgeousness yourself or treat someone you love.
