Extra Large Harris Farnham Pottery Internally Glazed Mantle Vase

Extra Large Harris Farnham Pottery Internally Glazed Mantle Vase
This is a fascinating vase from the Harris Pottery based at Clay Hill in Wrecclesham in Surrey.
The Harris Pottery had links with the Farnham School of Art, and the pottery’s art-ware designs were sold in Liberty’s, Heals and Harrods. Absalom Harris’s own daughters Gertrude and Nellie made architectural and ornamental products, and clients included Gertrude Jekyll, the architect Harold Falkner, the author George Sturt and Mary Watts, the designer and wife of the eminent artist George Frederick Watts founder of The Potters Art Guild in Guildford.
It has many of the attributes of Constance Spry’s vases designed for her by Forence Standfast and made by Fulham Pottery and cost a fairly hefty 15/6 originally as shown in pencil on the base. It has a natural clay exterior with a glazed interior. Unlike Spry’s press moulded vases this one has been wheel thrown then shaped.
It would look fabulous in a rustic farmhouse, where other more slick vases would look out of place.
